Mystery Building near Hognaston Derbyshire.

I attach photos of a building I pass regularly at SK 22494 50796, near Hognaston Derbyshire.

It is visible on Google street view from a point on the road near the milestone.

The farmer has robbed the building for concrete sills and lintels and some of the bricks have been used to infill gateways.

Of note is, the building is in line with two other reference points in the area. One is the target at Carsington water range at SK2512,5197, the other is the range arrow adjacent to the range arrow at SK2471, 5152.

One of the rooms looks like a cubicle for an Elsan, The larger room at the SW end of the building has vertical pipes in the floor at opposite sides of the room.

Have we seen a building to this design previously?

Definitely has that WW2 look about it, especially the inside photographs.

What is the structure built in the next field West? Could it be connected with what to me looks like a CRDF/something Navaidish?

That is the TRENT ( TNT) VOR/DME beacon Used by overflying a/c, and those en route to join the circuits at East Midlands and Manchester.

The structure has been previously reported on AiX Forum since I have it plotted as an 'Unknown' It' s shown on a 70's OS 2500 Scale map with what appears (by symbol) to be a wall parallel to the northern face but around 10m out..

No boreholes nearby but I suspect that the ground is waterlogged at times since there is an 'Issue' (drainage water coming to the surface) on the eastern border of the field directly to the south.

I would say that this building is almost certainly a Rotor period vhf Receiver small with the store window (D) bricked up. See attached my guide to vhf blocks
