I called at a factory today with some machinery but had to wait 15 minutes while a water test was done using this engine. Anyone have an idea what type it is, what aircraft it powered... ?

Also used in later model Spitfires, but with only a single propellor

But that nacelle looks like the one from a Shackleton

I did ask the people there what kind of engine it was, I was first told that it came from a B52. After the display was over another chap told me that it came from a Shackleton, as has already been identified. I had to call there again today and was allowed to take some more photographs.

I took these two yesterday with my useless phone which confirmed that it was a Rolls Royce engine.

They have two of these engines as seen in their large shed. Took these this morning with a proper camera. As for location all that I can say is it's somewhere in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

To save starting a new thread, whilst we are talking about engines, The One Show last night showed Dyson's Whittle jet engine being run up (not full power!) outside their offices.
