Quiz time folks. Made of aluminium and found in a hedge on the edge of the Treligga Range a few days ago. Length approx. 5 ins and 1.5 ins in diameter. Any ideas?

It looks like the splayed ends were cut and bent almost as if to look like something that exploded. Or could an explosive charge caues such apparent evenness?

the two holes drilled in line with each of the at the unsplayed end look like they could be for a split pin or R clip to secure a pole of slightly less diameter inside,think tent poles the splayed end might be for supporting the centre of a small bell tent or to give a more steady base to a tent pole.
