Coventry University Technology Centre, which is partially built on the site of the Rolls Royce Parkside works Coventry, has installed this Jet engine as a landscape feature.Has anyone any ideas as to what it might have come from?

I believe its an early turobshaft engine.

Parkside was originally an Armstrong Siddeley factory so:

I am thinking it may be an Armstrong Siddeley Python prototype, but still searching for the evidence

I think you're right. Turn the one in the linked photo round by 180 degrees (i.e. left to right) and there are enough similarities to convince me.
