As part of the thermo-nuclear explosion that has been ignited under military aviation safety, the new Military Aviation Authority (MAA) has published the Manual of Aerodrome Design and Safeguarding; it is accessible here:

Very interesting stuff! Agree with the layout, it looks more like the design for an electrical component or high tech rolling pin!
