Aviation sites in Ireland

Hi Everyone,

Richard suggested I should place my link here as a help to anyone researching Irish aviation sites. Still getting it organised and will take a while to get it sorted as we would wish. So please bear with us.

Glad to be able to help in any way. It never was my intention to place the database on the web, but two things changed my mind. First was the thought that all the data collected could be lost forever if anything happened to me and then the opertunity presented itself. The guy who
runs the server is a pilot himself and when he seen what I had he said it should be available to everyone. So I was delighted to do just that. All I have is the list (plus "notes" which will be added later) He added the Google maps, photo section and forum.
In time we hope to develope it into the definitive historical listing of all sites used for aviation of any kind in Ireland.
He and his staff are working 24/7 trying to get the new server (one of six. the others are ok) up and running.

Good work - the site looks promising.
The database is excellent -checked out Rathduff - 'The Secret Aerodrome', and there it was.
Hopefully a photo will appear at a later date.

Hi Guys

As some of you already spotted www.avsitesireland.com/ is back online. But it's back to basics for a while as all the photos that were up, were lost, sorry about that. If you were thinking of uploading some pics please wait until 28th, as the "new" forum will not be inplace until then. I've replaced some of the original photos myself including your excellent Dublin pics REF. This time we have single registration which covers all sections.

They had a back up in place but it was on the same server which decided to eat itself. It did shut itself down before too much damage was done.
For the last 10 days the owner and his staff have been working 24/7 trying to get the 2100+ websites back up and running again. The new server will not allow a repete performance.

The datalist is part of more comprehensive info which we hope to add in time. A "notes" file which gives text data on most sites is waiting to be edited (removal of personal info) before it can be put up.

So far there are over 1300 seperate sites listed, but we have as many more again waiting to be added. So many years work yet to get it to it's full potential. This is just the start. Photos of any site are always welcome.
