TARA (The Aerial Reconnaissance Archives) was created by Peter Kirk
TARA moved from Keele to the RCAHMS over a year ago and the website promised back then has now appeared.

There is limited cover at the moment but this is set to expand. The bulk of the collection is the European coverage and boasts of unique coverage of Eastern Europe taken by the German Luftwaffe.
My interest is in the Scottish imagery which is also going to be available

Currently there is limited coverage of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Hopefully this will expand and include some of the areas of interest to AiX members.
There is an introductory offer whereby for £15 you get 2 years registered access to imagery without logo and at a slighlty larger size than unregistered users. For £10 - £15 you can purchase a larger personal copy of the selected frame.
Having been a longtime fan of the way RCAHMS have set things up I have already registered. Other areas are due to go live in September 2009 so hopefully I will have more to look at
There is also mention of a project to get the Aerofilms collection online. This is a joint effort with RCAHMS, RCAHMW and English Heritage. Should be interesting.
