During my research I have come across and purchased a number of postcards depicting elements of ranges, quadrant shelters, markers shelters or targets. In these case the inclusion of range features was incidental and all were commercial postcards rather than photos just printed on photo paper with a postcard back.
Postcards of aircraft were very common and even those of commercial airports or aerodromes but I have noticed a few of RAF airfields in the inter-war period, Catterick and Dishforth spring to mind. Both these RAF airfield photos were commercial products and were not particularly well composed, looking more like an over the fence shot. Were there many of these, perhaps in a series?
My interest in the interwar period is focused on the airfield bombing ranges and any infrastructures related to them that might have appeared on these postcards.
Local history is also a very good reason to seek out old postcards.
