The National Archives (TNA), Kew - Recent additions

I have already posted something on site plans under Odiham but having looked a bit more closely I noticed that a large batch of airfield site plans have been added in two tranches, one in February 2019 and one in June 2019. All are in DEFE 221.

They cover both the airfield and the buildings, the majority by the looks of it. There is a mixture of pre-war, wartime and postwar plans with the most recent one dating from the nineties. Locations that have multiple entries are Oakington, Waterbeach, Odihjam, Branston Fen and aq few on Uxbridge and Stanmore. There are other locations but I decided not to note everyone of them.

I started by looking for drawings of the pre-war Station Armouries, mainly to see if any showed the Camera Obscura daylight target (chequerboard pattern ion the lower roof) and was dismayed to find there were 10 of them, all different drawing numbers and dates between 1937 and 1940. Since my last two copies cost me £16 each -which one to choose?

It's probably a prism

Trying to decide which armoury drawing to go for is a nightmare. I will discount any that have the scale as "full size" as that is probably door handles or bolts, the rest will go into a hat.

What intrigues me is why were the all suddenly passed to TNA and where from. I guess RAF AHB released them but Odhiam is still active as far as I recall.

I thought I'd posted something before but couldn't recall where! I haven't checked all the dates they were available at TNA but a large number were June. I wonder when the next lot will be?
