A Short story by Jimmy James. was created by airfields man
Last Sunday (17-02-19) we called at St Mary's church in Chesham, Bucks. To cut-a-long-story-short, there is a booklet for sale in the church (Proceeds to) about local man Jimmy James who was in the RAF during WW2. It's called ; From Fire to Faith and Freedom. Nothing to do with the 'Other' Jimmy James of The Great Escape story. I didn't really get much time to 'Delve' into it, but it's only a small publication, and there didn't seem too many pages... Can't get it on Google either ?

Intriguing.
I lived in Chesham until I was about 21 and attended St Mary's church (church parades with my ATC cadets in the latter years) but I never heard of Jimmy James, however that's nearly 50 years ago now!

I notice he gave a couple of talks to the local Probus Club last autumn.

Never heard of the Probus Club but I have to admit I haven't visited Chesham since my parents both died; last time was late 2006.

Well we were told that he is/was a local man. But he may have only been a 'local' for the last 30 years or so...? I'm sure that he was 'Aircrew' ? but at £5.00 per booklet I decided not to buy a copy.

I don't suppose it's the same person, but 'Jimmy James' was one of the first group of RAF pilots who trained ot fly the U2!

Airfields man, as you departed St Marys Church, did you walk straight down through the main gates and down a cobbled lane?
If so you walked straight through one of the locations used in the film 'The Imitation Game' about Alan Turing.
