Please forgive me if this post is in the wrong forum, but i am attempting to assist a friend who wishes to learn more about his father in WW2.

He sent a photo to me of his father in uniform with this patch on his arm. He knows that he was in the US Army Air Core Glider Program but he does not know of the significance of his patch.

Any information would mean so much to him, or maybe someone can suggest another web site or forum please?

Thank you in anticipation of your response.
Graham

I have borrowed your image and have asked for identification of the patch on another WW2 forum. Awaiting response.

A poster on the WW2Aircraft.net Forum states:

USAAC.... Air Corps Pinwheel patch, printed on felt version.
Early Pin-Wheel AAF HQ
Here are my numerous variations of the early pin-wheel design. This photo also has the overseas cap "roundel" in Air Corp colors to the top right and an officers collar B.O.S. from WWII, right.

I have asked for clarification that the pinwheel patch indicates that the wearer was on the staff of the US Army Air Force Heaqdquarters

Followup:

My source says that the 'pinwheel' patch indicates that the wearer is a member of the (US) Army Air Corps.
