I have just had a pint at The Red Lion at East Kirkby, very enjoyable.I took my father there 35 years ago and in the bar there was a large round wooden table with "Syd Smith" carved into it....He had apparently finished his tour and went out to celebrate!I believed the table had been sold some years ago but I had a pleasant surprise tonight,it is still there, although the top has been sanded-"Syd Smith" is still visible though. They have retained some wartime photographs and now have a "Bomber Command" camping area,a very pleasant pub well worth a visit.

I photographed that very table last month. Have been wanting to for years. Ever since seeing it on the legendary documentary 'The Watchtower'. The landlord assured us that the table will be staying there as long as the pub does -
