RICHMOND ; RAF100 plaque on town War Memorial , 25 June 2018

Sorry for the short notice but anyone able to attend is welcome to do so .

Richmond has had a long connection with the RAF based on the proximity of RAF Catterick and RAF Scorton. After 18 months planning and fundraising an RAF Memorial Plaque is now fixed to the War Memorial wall and a dedication service will be held on Monday 25th June 2018 commencing at 10.00 am. This will coincide with the Richmondshire District Council (RDC) Flag Raising for Armed Forces Day and representatives from the local RAF Association Branches, Air Training Corps and British Legions have been invited and Padre Richard Clement from RAF Leeming will officiate at this dedication.

The planned Order of Service is as follows:

10.00 am – Meet & Greet in Friary Gardens

10.20 am – Welcome and opening speech by the Chairman of RDC

Last post by bugler
Silence whilst the flag is lowered and the Armed Forces Day Flag is attached.

10.30 am- Raising of the Armed Forces flag
Reveille by the bugler
Response/address by the Garrison HQ representative
Children’s readings/poems
Prayer and a blessing from the Garrison Padre

10.40 am- Dedication of the RAF Memorial (RAF Padre)
Address by British Legion project organizer.

10.50 am – Refreshments at Richmond Cricket Club.
