Whitley aArodrome Baginton Civic Aerodrome and Armstrong Whitworth

 This mapping may be of interest it is from what appears to be a between wars street map by Geographers Maps based upon Ordnance Survey Mapping of Coventry .I presume it is out of copyright . The extract shows the relative positions of Whitley Aerodrome which was the original Armstrong Whitworth works Coventry Civic Airport and the "new " Armstrong Whitworth Works  in the bottom right hand corner and untitled (as a child I remember watching the smoke from the garden of my house as it burnt down in the 1960's fire) .What is marked as the entrance to the civic aerodrome is next to The Baginton Oak Pub which was used for Officers quarters at least by the Polish squadron when it was stationed their and was still the entrance  till slightly moved recently .If there were any permanent structures on the Airfield  they are not indicated .Whitley Aerodrome was in what was the farm on the estate of the stately home Whitley Abbey Similarly at Heron fields and Stretton on Fosse both in Warwickshire there were WW1 aerodromes associated with "stately homes" I wonder whether this  was just coincidental .
