Do you have more info about these type of approach lights (attached image) , how they were installed and spaced. There were crossbars included?

thanks

I'm guessing that the photo was taken on Malta. Someone there might know more. Poss. Luqa or Hal Far.

Red onmi directional approach lights were installed so as to provide circling guidance and were supplementary to white high intensity uni directional lights.  There was thus no 'fixed' length of approach lighting notified; the lights were installed up to a maximum of 500m from touchdown where terrain permitted with a final crossbar.
They were normally positioned adjacent to high intensity white lights when a high intensity white system was installed.
Looking at the photo, with rising ground next to the runway, I would guess this photograph was Hal Far.

Yes, It's Hal Far. LR23's were installed both on the runway edge and threshold, so I guess it was a low-intensity runway lighting. Threshold lighting was supplemented by sodiums near the wingbar (as seen in the attached photo). I am now looking, at what approach lighting config it had. Thanks Terry.
