WW2 Plane crash bodies found miles away

I must be getting old, I red the story twice but am still unclear if the bodies were removed at the time of the crash or if they were recovered recently. Presumably unit records would record the accident  (618 Sqn??) and the fate of the crew. I don't understand where the million pound cost comes from.

I also don't understand Ward's gripe as any bodies found will turn the lives upside down of any living on the property, even if proven to totally unconnected.

If, as the BBC report suggests, the bodies were recovered at the time, "After the crash the two men's bodies were recovered and buried, but wartime procedures meant inquests were not held." they would have been given a military burial and not in some farmers field. Also there are plenty of files on non-combat crashes in TNA so although an inquest may not have been held an investigation may have occurred. 

As to the definition of secret I can only imagine that it looks good in a headline or even better an Ebay keyword.

It seems quite possible that not all the remains were recovered after a crash into a hillside.

 

At last, an explanation of the split remains. 

I dare say those hand-me-down watches some of us had as kids had "deadly" radioactive dials not to mention the "deadly" roof coverings on all those sheds and garages! How are we still alive?

PS. it was pointed out to me that we all breath in asbestos particles in urban areas due to the amount of unprotected roofing. 

The danger with luminous watches and dials is not much from wearing or using them, it is when they are broken up and flakes of the luminous paint can get into the body.

There is a beach in Fife(?) where large numbers were dumped so the beach has to be cleaned to remove all these small particles.
