The bombing range at RAF Jurby Head only closed in 1992. The paratroop drops ceased long before that, but we always enjoyed watching the drops from our adjoining farm right up to the end of the 1970s probably. I'm just trying to piece together a bit more of the military history of the area from that time. Many thanks.

There must have been a lot of drop zones around the country, on land already in the hands of the military. I seem to recall a warning sign of parachute drops at RAF Tangmere long after it closed as an airfield. I must dig out my old Pooley's as I seem to recall parachute drop zone mentioned if not listed.
