What an ugly word. When I find out who invented it, I'll have him dragged outside and publicly horse whipped. Twice.

I thought it was another Covid side effect!

Taxis in the air? They are bad enough on the ground!

The actual craft hasn't even flown let alone been tested by the CAA. All a massive con if you ask me.
Persons being carried for hire or reward will require an AOC and public transport Cof A. The site shown on the computer will require safeguards against engine failures after takeoff and you can see the surroundings will be crammed with car parks, roads etc so where do they go?
I noticed in the LBC report that when the reporter asked 'how much will it cost' the spokesman launched into a tirade about convenience of operations and by passed the question..

Strangely the topic has disapeared from the Forum.
Just to add that the spokesman admits that 'air taxis had yet to receive government approval' and a life size model of 'one being built' would be on show.
I notice that the take off and landing 'pad' is sunken into the surroundng superstructure; I wonder what the airflow will be like when they operate as I was always taught that if you operate in a confined area like this, the airflow re-circulates and you get no lift from it.

I thought the same about enclosed spaces and rotors.

I live in Coventry and have seen the new building just 5 minutes from where i am typing this .It is next to Coventry's new Railway station with its new multistorey car park on the site of the demolished Park Court Dole Offices not where the artists impression in the linked article puts it so>so what is the difference in principle between this and a helicopter pad it will still be for well off businessmen and their ilk if it does not have the success of the Sinclair C 5 which was the way of the future once along with the Segway . The area it is in is also next to where high rise office blocks are supposed to be developed .Well it is more practical than Hyper loops . but even if it proves economically and engineering wise possible to maintain fleets of driverless air taxis these are not a replacement for black cabs but more like a super premium 1st class rail journey between a select but limited number of arail station equivalents who gives a damm for the over paid and underworked elites comfort will it change the fabric of life as we know it ?I dont think so .

I hope they don't use the term "drop off" when referring to air taxis.
