There were several smaller 'dishes' plus 'golf balls' located on the southern section of the airfield some twenty years ago. They have been dismantled during that time and, according to the Google Earth April 2021 view, only the large 'dish' in the north and a large 'golfball' in the south are on site.

It appears the MoD decision to opt for Skynet 5 technology strangled the Defford project.

Given that the whole site is now owned by West Mercia Police, would it be reasonable to assume the large dish is now disused?

I didn't look to deeply Kevin. Maybe the Old Bill used the radar to track you naughty speeders....:)

Still in use as part of MERLIN by all accounts.

Probably mentioned before but a friend worked at RSRE under its previous name, when they were doing trials for Terrain Avoidance Radar they used a large RADAR transmitter and dish on the back of a lorry. They drove East on long straight and ended up with a long string of cars behind them who presumably it was some sort of new speed trap.
