I recently found a newspaper report of the testing of the Hoppicopter at Christchurch in 1949. Subsequently the attached photo has surfaced perporting to be a Hoppicopter at Christchurch> To me that looks more like Beaulieu (where the RAF apparently tested another of the same). The hut with the straight edges (canm't remember the type name)in the background is something I have not seen in any Christchurch photos.
So opinions please - Christchurch or Beaulieu?
It is possible to be Beaulieu. The very thing that makes it possibly Beaulieu is also the same thing that sows a slight seed of doubt - actual sight of a handcraft hut. These huts at Beaulieu were in the living area, and a fair distance from the rota testing area and concrete like that.
But, who knows.
Either way, amazing photo so thank you.

Just to follow this up. The farmer who owns land next to Beaulieu Airfield recently invited me for a visit recently. None of the remaining Handcraft Huts have buttresses like this, which gives me more reason to doubt it's a photo at Beaulieu.
Unfortunately, Handcraft huts both extant and in old photographs can be seen with various types of end wall with and without the two piers or buttresses outside of the central door. Bealieu opened in 1942 and, from what I can find, the company started productionof their Handcraft around April 1942.
Thanks Peter, I've got historical photos of the huts at Beaulieu, as well as the present day. I can't see any with the buttresses like the hoppicopter photo... that's not to say it wasn't Beaulieu as not all the huts remain today, and not all I have historical images of. But, the idea they would have the copter near the Handcraft Huts post-war doesn't make sense either due to the history of the airfield ... and the large expanse of concrete, and what could be a dispersal area in the photo... from a layout perspective of the airfield, it's not stacking up.
But... I'd love to be wrong, as would love this to be a photo from Beaulieu.
I would say I am 80% certain it's not.
But will carry on looking into it...
PS: That article link that Dave posted was written by me last year. I need to update it.
