Charlesworth bodies cheltenham

Hi am trying to find information on charlesworth bodies where my nan worked after 1942 i believe.

Where would this of been and have any records survived of which i could find more info on what she did. I possible have a photo from.her time there i can dig out if of interest,

The new factory at Newent was built in 1939/40 by the Gloucester Aircraft Company, managed by Charlesworth Bodies Ltd, and used to make wings and propellers.
After the war it was used to repair army vehicles in the late 1940s early 1950s.

Charlesworth Bodies also had an office and site in Hempstead, Gloucester. My grandmother worked there. Attached is her employee pass showing the address as Hempstead Lane.

Most of Much Park Street was destroyed during the war by German bombing and mmore by post war redevelopment .Muchpark street was also home to the Original Triumph Gloria Works and joined Parkside where at least post war Rolls Royce had works..

Well Charlesworth Bodies go back to at least 1919 when the upper storey of their premises at 218 Much Park Street were used by Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft .They were makers of Bodies for Motor Cars when these were custom made for Chassis .This opens an interesting speculation that they may have assisted A.W.A in the body work of the Metal skinned Siskin,In the P and J directory for Coventry 1926 they are still listed at the postal address but so also are several other organisations .[

The Photo is from the Coventry evening Telegraph newspaper and may show The Charlesworth Premises which were one address nearer the City centre than the Brewery which i assume was the successor to Phillips and Marriott. The spires are on the city centre side and which of the buildings on the left hand side of the road is not certain.][/size]
