Help trace Sqd Ldr Dennis William Simmons for his son was created by robin bird
This is a round robin trying to trace info on Sqd Ldr Dennis Simmons(330295) for his son Charles. All we know he joined RAF Helensburgh in 1940 as a lac and by the end of the war was squadron leader. He retired from the RAF in 1954. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Cpl DW Simmonds, service no 330295 was commisioned 22 Apr 1942, into the Technical Branch as an Acting Pilot Officer, service number 120197, on probabtion (emergency), with seniority effective 17th March 1942, promulgated in the London Gazette of 26 May 1942 (p2297)

Sqd Ldr Simmons 120197 Transferred to the Volunteer Reserve 10 Feb 1954 as promulgated in the London Gazette supplement of 10 August 1954


Air Ministry, I0th August, 1954.
EMERGENCY LIST.
The undermentioned relinquish their commissions
under the provisions of the Navy, Army and Air
Force Reserves Act, 1954, and have been granted
permission to retain rank, as stated, with effect from
10th Feb. 1954 :—

ROYAL AIR FORCE VOLUNTEER RESERVE.
Flight Lieutenant, retaining the rank of Squadron

Do we know his date of birth, approx is better than nothing, and where born please.
