I have already posted just the basic Runways here:
Tilstock Airport EGCT
.
(This is a web site where people can post free add ons for Microsoft Fight Simulator 2020).
The difference from normal here is that its a historical WW2 airfield not a better version of a moderm airport.
I have done much research; there is a wealth of info on the internet which I am currently collating.
Much of the original taxiways and Aircraft Hangers remain and have industrial uses now. They are also shown accurately on the OS maps and on the attached drawing.
I have received a lot of information from local people about the runways and hangers as people remember them from when they were children before they were ripped up.
Part of one runway is still in use by a parachute club.
I have enough information to "recreate", as a MSFS 2020 free Add-On, all the runways, taxiways and hangers.
What would be great would be for others to chip in with 3D models of buildings and aircraft to populate the model.
ALSO there were a very large number of similar airports that were built during WW2, mostly in the last few years, all over the UK see:
Nine Thousand Miles of Concrete: A Review of Second World War Temporary Airfields in England
So if you are in the UK there will be an airport near you that you could research and recreate.
There is a lot of scope for mutual help and co-operation with methods and tutorials etc.
Is one thing to read history its another to recreate it and land on it!
Note that I have already, and will always, post all my project files and source files to facilitate anyone else learning from what I have done and maybe even, dare I say, making a better job of it!
