1:2400 Scale Diorama of RAF Framlingham was created by DavidNelson
I've been working on a 1:2400 diorama of RAF Framlingham in Parham as it was on 25 June 1944 for quite some time. I'm working on texture again (more scale appearance). I'm doing a larger work on the base and trying to make a comprehensive catalog of the buildings per the RSP and aerial photos. I'm missing some building plans, some info on the adjacent farms, and other details that will bring this to life.

I'm attaching a few photos showing work to date.

My intention is to complete revised base terrain, redo road network, add hedging and trees per aerial photography, replace civilian buildings, add details, and lighting runways, taxiways, flarepath, and select buildings with fiber optics.

Excellent. It demonstrates just how much space and airfield and its amenities actually took up.

Making the people and aircraft will be a nightmare :)

Not in person yet. I'm on the eastern seaboard of the US. The gentleman who 3D printed some of the civilian buildings in 1:700 for this in Tucson scaled them down for me to 1:2400.

Aircraft from GHQ military miniatures in pewter. I have about 100 of them. Only about 40 were there that day as Frantic I was underway. Not doing people, they would be 0.75mm tall. Might do some vehicles, but only rough approximations.

What are the external dimensions of the diorama baseboard in this scale David?

48" x72" (9600'x14400')

I was surprised that not even the 3150 acres (1275 hectares) wouldn't depict everything. The water treatment plant is just off the southern edge.

About 270 civil buildings and 500 military buildings, planning several hundred lights (0.1mm fiber optics), too.
