Just to throw another little " tit bit in ". Speaking to some Senior Officers in our enclosure over the weekend, strong comments and remarks that the M.O.D. are saying that " Waddington Airshow " is getting too costly these days and are as the term used, " looking at it "bearing in mind they have to trim the Departments budget.
Was informed that Waddington had over 1000,personnel on duty leading upto and over the weekend, it was hinted at during the weekend chats more than once, that the refurbishment of the runway and cancellation of 2015 Show was the thin end of the wedge. Don't be at all surprised if some time in the next 12 months or so, there is an announcement to say the the Airshows are finished at Waddington.
Sitting at a table there on saturday a local woman told me that she had brought her young son along to the show as it's going to be the last one. She said that the local rumor is that there will not be anymore shows there after 2014. Sincerely hope that she is wrong. Also heard from another that Barkston Heath may have a display next year...
Thought that this was a rather, thought provoking shot. ' Sally B ' B17G Flying Fortress depicting a " Battle damaged " Flying Fortress attempting to land at its base. It certainly brought a ' lump to my throat ' imagining it happening in reality.

I spent four days at Waddington (Thurs- Sunday) for this years airshow & rumours of this years show being the last where everywhere, in the local press on TV & radio, on the airshow radio, in the enthusiasts park & view etc.
The RAF will not comment on whether they'll be a show in 2016 & beyond at present but when a member of the shows organising team posts on an airshow forum that he only found out about the cancellation of next years show on the Thursday & then later posts a link to a 'Save Waddington Airshow' E-petition it doesn't look at all promising. That petition is here - epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/67098
Another rumour going round on arrivals day in the park & view area was that the news of next years show being cancelled because of the inevitable runway work was supposed to be announced after the actual airshow weekend itself so it's obviously leaked somewhere.
All this, & the show has attracted some of it's biggest crowds ever at this year & last years events. It'll be an absolute tragedy to lose the RAF's main public event bearing in mind we lost the last surviving RAF Battle Of Britain Show at Leuchars last year.
