I'm so glad that Old Warden's 'Drive-In' style airshows have worked out so well (although according to a mate, the weather was terrible at last nights Proms event....can't blame that on Covid-19!!).
Last months event was every bit as good as the first one in July. Everybody kept to their own safe areas, plenty of hand gel around, Good spacing out in the ques at the food kiosks etc. Typically there was the occasional spotter had to be told to return to his area but overall Shuttleworth have done a great job so far in this very difficult year.
Saw the Bell 47 and immediately the MASH theme played in my head, then I noticed the serial on the tail. I wonder if the youngster know about MASH?
.....& that was the exact music that was played during it's display & funnily enough the commentator actually said "I wonder how many of the younger members of the audience recognise this music or have heard of the series"
The entire flying display was centred around aircraft in movies & TV . Sadly the wind was to strong for the Edwardians & the 'Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines' routine.
Thanfully thanks to Old Warden & Duxford this years airshow season hasn't been a complete loss so far. Here's a few photos I took at the Duxford Showcase Day mini airshow on 4th of August. Thoroughly enjoyable event -

Not a great day for the Sea Fury T.20. Seen here taking flight during the afternoon.
I saw it taking off later on as we where where leaving & noticed it looping & rolling to the north of Duxford as we drove home on the M11. It was trailing a fair bit of black smoke which I thought at the time certainly didn't look good. . Found out when I got home that it crashed shortly afterwards thankfully with no serious injuries or worse. -
Excuse the grainy-ness in some shots. It was one of those dull weather days that my camera hates no matter what settings it's on
Steve
Good photographs there Stevie, love the low flying Mustang, and Hurricane shots. Very good !
I keep trying to delete this as it's in the wrong place ! I made this comment after Stevie's first set of photographs, but it came out here ?
We all get those grainy shots Steve, but they all look good to me ! Sorry to hear about the Sea Fury crashing, but as you said good that no-one was seriously injured, or worse. A good load of photographs.
