What lucky you are to have that much surviving site/buildings and you aviation archeology still rich

I understand that it is difficult today to maintain 1 site completely in his WWII shape
Is it really impossible or is there no official support for this ?
The RAF has his BBMF to maintain the memory of WWII crew
Why don't they do the same for an airfield and the memory of ground staff...?
Or can Duxford be considered as such ?

In Belgium, the Government sold many bunkers for private use at a cheap price (average less than £650) and they all gone (I missed one for £500... my bid was a bit too low !)
Many became little museums

Why don't you buy little buildings (OPS room, shelters, ammo storage, ... thinking about your archive project !) at a reasonable price, you may have at least 1 type of building surviving of all ones built during WWII.
You may consider that many types of (big) hangars will survive in military hands or private estate projects
I know, I am dreaming... !

But a book that describes airfields with scale plans & pictures with all WWII building types is still a reasonable project... but who will start ?
I am sure there are treasures in your archives... you are known for that !

In Belgium, if an airfield is definitely closed, bulldozers and scrapers are taken in action quickly... 2 airfields are concerned presently and I trying (with the support of another 'infrastucture freak') to save as much as possible thru pictures of present status, private collections, plans (a ground plan of each building, overall plans, detail plans of airfield lighting & arrester systems, etc...) thru the years, interviews of ground staff for at least 2 book projects to remember those places for future generations !
Can't do more as we don't have a local AiX, ARG, ... and won't have the same synergy/motivation as in the UK !
The majority of aviation enthusiasts are focussing on pilots and aircraft... ground infrastructure and staff are mainly forgotten, isn't it ?

Culmhead would make a fatastic museum BUT!!!!!!

Land prices, farmers, windfarmers, ecoers, etc. I did ask Yeovilton museum curator about adopting Culmhead, the answer was the usual tat from museum people. Long Newnton is another maybe?
