Having seen the Standby Set House mentioned as being a house elsewhere onthe forum, it got me thinking as to what other old airfield buildings are now houses? Obviously alot of control towers, Sandtoft and Little Walden to name a couple. Also the old Norden Bombsight Store at Framlingham is now a Bungalow but what others can you think of?
Oohh - that's a good one. Not quite a house but a number of years ago, I think the guard house at Bircham Newton used to be a branch of Barclays Bank.
You could probably, I suppose, consider that many of the former married quarters which are now residential might be included. However, as for actual airfield buildings themselves. Good one to ponder over.

Not a house, but the Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall in the Forebury was once the Gymnasium on RAF Sawbridgeworth. It was dismantled and rebuilt in the town for use as a function hall and is still going strong. www.sawbridgeworthfirebrigade.co ... hall_2.gif
What about Hinstock's naval tower - I last heard via a national newspaper article - of plans for it to be restored as a dwelling. Did this actually happen and if so, what does the tower now look like? I made a detailed measured survey of it when it was derelict in 1984.
