Snowflags / Airfield Reflective Marker System (ARMS)

Reference Shawbury's snowflags they are painted blue with the reflective sleeves from the ARMS stapled around the top to provide the reflective surface.

the markers do have more uses lol. make good skittles for us when the weathers bad and theres plenty to go round :lol::lol:

The old Flags were replaced with the Dayglow Sticks recently a vast improvement as the flags used to detach from the old ones causing a FOD risk.

Don't know if Canberra remembers, but the ones we used at Leuchars were bolted to all airfield lights!

Used to be my punishment for those assistants who did not conform...

I got out of the tower on that tour before it became snoflagging season! But after you left they went back to using stakes stuck in to the ground.

Dr Bishop, The flag type marker on the left in my post is bolted to the base of the light & proved so popular with the Airfield technicians they decided to leave them in all year round! :lol:

might be friendly to airfield technicians but not to airfield grounds maintenance. do make a good mess when chopped up tho

someone who knows will be able to identify the light, but taxi way edge light and flag in a snow storm at Dorval yesterday, pretty poor shot but bad light didnt help
