Use of the word Laboratory was created by CDP

Hi all.

Whilst mulling over a few site plans etc recently a question crossed my brain cell. What is the definition, in terms of airfield nomenclature, of the word "Laboratory"?

For example, Building No. 8, Drawing No. 4312/43 on the tech site at Riccall is listed on the record site plan as a Boxed Store Laboratory (it is actually sign-written as Main Workshops).

Again, Bombing/Gunnery Teacher buildings are also often listed A.M.L. - Air Ministry Laboratory.

Anyone any ideas?

Air Ministry Lab was at Imperial College, London where experiments were done on simulation training devices such as the AML Bombing Teacher.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
