Landfall Beacons

I think I have heard of Landmark Beacons but not familiar with Landfall Beacons, unless this is the RAF term for a lighthouse!

My source was the Tholthorpe Control Logs and in these they referred to 'LFB' a lot until they recorded Landfall Beacon in full. Locations mentioned were Selsey Bill, Orford Ness, Flamborough Head, and, Beachy Head. The info given with each entry was the location (name) and bearing but sometimes an elevation. Does this mean they were pointed in one direction on a prearranged heading which differed every night?

I didn't know these existed until I read t his post. As it happens, I found yesterday, this image (Pen & Sword, Images at War series: The Few {BoB})

I tried a zoom-in, but not enough to read alas.

There were 'beacons' established inland from the sea, the last remaining one being still in situ albeit operating on reduced power; it's on the top of the RAF College at Cranwell and is (as far as I know) still registered with Trinity House as a lighthouse; whether or not this constitutes a 'Landmark' or 'Landfall' beacon I don't know however there is reference to 'Landfall Beacons' in connection with Australian lighthouses as published by the Australian Hydrographic office, so does this mean that the photo originates in Australia?
'Landmark Beacons' seem to refer the beacons to be lit in Tudor times to indicate The Armada is about to invade.
Turning to the photo, it appears to be a small group of fliers wearing LSJs presumably waiting for a 'scramble' . Of these, only one rank insignia is visible and this appears to be Army 1st Lt pips on the epaulette of the person standing at left who is the only one of the four wearing flying boots rather than shoes.  There is a parachute pack (seat type) laying on the bed next to the dog and much of the wall behind is covered with silhouettes of aircraft for recognition purposes.
Next to the printed details of 'Landmark Beacons' displayed above the readiness board is a reference to 'Darky Procedures', a term which nowadays would sound objectionable to certain members of the population because it appears to refer an ethnic group to illiustrate the use of 'blackout' procedures for night time use.
It would be of great benefit if someone could somehow enhance the image of these printed notices by computer enhancement, but as I'm 'computer illiterate' I don't have a clue how to do that!
