Hardly suprising given its history. My grandfather lived in sheltered accomodation on the boundary of Hornchurch in the 70's and barely a week went by when one was not found in the gravel workings. By the way with the initials JCB are you quite sure you had nothing to do with it?

Word is that the device was identified by EOD as an inert 10lb practice bomb. They tucked it under their arm and took it off site for disposal elsewhere. Museum and all facilities open as normal today.
