Having been to airshows from the latye sixties to the late nineties I don't recall ever seeing an Anson in flight. That was until yesterday when one flew over the back garden. A distinctive sound caused me to check what was flying over and was pleased to an Anson. I think it was the blue painted version but can't be sure as it was back lit by the sun.
It makes a change from the regular aircraft for London City Airport which now seem to fly directly over our garden with unnerving accuracy!

The aircraft was the Anson owned by BAE Systems and kept at Old Warden. It was probably en-route Blackbushe to Stowe Maries for a display, before returning to Old Warden. It does have a blue-painted fuselage.

As I live south of the Thames at Dartford I assume the route skirted south to avoid Heathrow and headed north near Dartford Crossing. It is a well trodden path for non airline traffic.

BAe's Anson based at Old Warden is getting a new paint scheme for next year's RAF 100 anniversary. It's going to show BAe's links with the RAF apparently. Look forward to seeing this.
Faithful Annie! Anyone know what happened to Anson TX226??. Used to be at Air Atlantic in Coventry I think. Looked after TX226's instruments when at RAF Jurby , Isle of Man as Junior Technician in 1960. Aircraft was the Station's only aircraft then and was lucky to fly in her on a number of occasions as Navigator!!. Accompanying pilot on trips to West Freugh to exchange survival equipment as no Survival equipment man at Jurby. West Freugh seen as soon as a/c left the ground!. Chosen to sit up front as only Scotsman from SW Scotland on Station Flight of 4 personnel. Happy Days!
