I will be very sorry to see the Javelin go as I well remember her when she stood outside the officers mess back in the early 1970's , and we had a Meteor NF14 on the gate as well . Those were the days !

The only practical ADEN gun installation in a British aircraft but I never worked them long enough to find out the stoppage rate.

Not sure if they did the airshow circuit but my first airshow was September 1968 so just a little too late I suspect. Be good to see one as a ground runner but I suspect the engine parts are going to be hard to come by. Another aircraft from the books of my youth.

I was under the impression that the Hunter Gun Pack was the best ADEN installation?
A former armourer I used to work with maintained that in the Javelin guns, if it fired during a turn would speed up on one side and slow or stop on the other due to the g loads on the belts.

Note that I said 'practical' meaning from an installation and maintenance point of view. The guns were right way up and the ammo feeds were straight and level out of the box, big access panels. The front mounting caused problems with forgetful plumbers who left components in the blast tubes ........
Yes, 'g' forces on ammo feeds can cause belt drag but rarely overfeed due to ducted feedways.
The single seat Hunter installation was operationally the best but off-aircraft maintenance of the gunpack was time consuming and required a lot of space for gun shop and pack storage, hence the Central Armoury configuration.

Thanks, should have realised that that was what you meant.
Did the bits left in the blast tube include the trunnion nut?
Sadly the only installation I've seen for real was the Harrier which was probably the worst with what it did with the belt.

The plan view looks good, shame about the faded roundels though. I always liked the look of the Javelin, no idea why, maybe because it was one aircraft I saw regularly at Manston in the late sixties or early seventies?
