Threat to ML407 - The Grace Spitfire

I wanted this to get as much visibility as possible hence my posting this here rather than in the relevant airfield section.

I find it unbelieveable that such a small minority can have such an effect on anything. The NIMBY element is not a nice one!

"It is with sad resignation that I inform you the Grace Spitfire will not be able to display at Rendlesham Show as a DIRECT result of Mike Sherwen’s Bentwaters Campaign Group together with Charlotte Morgan of Tunstall combined anti Air Leasing Ltd aviation activities. I despair that so few can have such an adverse affect on so many. I will not open the Show in the light of the foregoing."

I'm happy to add my support, however my own (reasonably in-depth) knowledge of the planning process is that the quality and not the quantity of letters of objection/support are what really matter?

Agree Alex-in my experience individual objections rather than adding a name to a list carries more weight with a planning committee.

My experience of county level planning issues suggests that lists of names carry little weight - individual letters (of support or objection) are far more important.

Duplicated letters are of little use, they must be seen to be individual representations.

I didn't suggest adding a name to a list or a petition.
My experience with CC's, with regard to laning issues has proved that quantity can help. Lists don't work as most CC's take a petition of 300 signatures from The XYZ Club as one single for or against. Democracy at it's best!

might be worth writing personally to the head of planning at Suffolk coastal , peter ridley . i got to know him years ago when he worked for quite a long time inside a shed/portacabin on Parham Airfield . theres a chance he is interested in the old plane thing and certainly has influence now .

Added some info about this to the Bentwaters thread - the Parish Council are very much behind the Application, and are looking for letters of support as described above by Deano.

It seems that there has been a level of misinformation spread about the application by certain people who have a rather baffling impression that the plans are for a busy commercial airport, which is simply not true...
