Ive just realised that the last time I saw a Tristar flying was 1st April 1993. The Tristar Victor and VC10 part of the cancelled 75th anniversary flypast at Marham, did a flypast of the Lincolnshire bases.
Back in 1983 we had the first visit of an RAF Tristar to Gutersloh, quite odd seeing an RAF aircraft flown by a civvy captain.
And I believe one of the reasons why the RAF got them instead of DC10s was the fact that Marshalls are the European servicing agent for Lockheed. They do RAF majors on the C130s, so I think for once MOD got it right on that score.
