Dear All,
Is there enough of this aircraft showing to identify it?
A relative used to fly a Hawker Hurricane IIC and is possibly in the photograph as well.
There is a story attached to him and it if anyone is interested.
Regards
Stephen

It looks like a Mustang from one of the ACC squadrons. The intake on top of the engine plus the guns underneath the engine are the clues. The next question is was it a visitor or based there?

Thanks Peter,

Below is an extract from Wiki which does indeed seem to confirm the presence of a Mustang.

"The base provided local protection from Luftwaffe raids on Belfast and the rest of the province. Other aircraft operated from the base were the Hawker Hurricane, Bristol Beaufighter, North American Mustang and Boulton Paul Defiant night fighter."

My relative had to make an emergency landing due to bad weather/fuel shortage and seemed to badly damage his aircraft but not himself in March1945.

Rounded wingtips and 3 blade prop would surely indicate a Hurri.
Looks more like Kenley; do I see a couple of 'ladies' in the lineup?(Centre, either side of the prop blade)

Mustang MkI for sure. Intake on upper nose area and two machine guns on lower cowling. Wingtips not rounded.
