No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
He 113 was created by Peter Kirk
Thought to have been a propaganda creation, this aircraft seems to have featured in a number of combat reports and the latest one I came across was on 22 January 1941 when 22 Sqn Beauforts reported being attacked by two He 113s over Den Helder.
My understanding is that the 113 was in fact a He 100 but these were never really used in combat. I wonder if the propaganda was successful and the RAF recognition cards included a He 113? Still it is odd that they cropped up in combat reports by different squadrons, although they may have been incorrectly identified.
I did make a model of the He 100 back in the very early seventies, from a Frog kit I think.

Apparently it was a better aircraft than the Bf109 and many in the Luftwaffe were surprised that it wasnt chosen.

And Ive realised that ive got confused with the 112, which to me looks very similar to a Spitfire.

My box of Air Ministry recognition cards certainly features the He 113. Part of the red pack of cards January 1941 issue.

Just had a look through "Wings on my Sleeve" by Eric "Winkle" Brown who probably flew most German aircraft postwar and he does not mention the He113,112 or 100.
