General Dymamics F-111

F-111 at Greenham Common, not sure of the model:

An F-111 at Greenham Common, probably an E model from Upper Heyford.

Has that F111 got drop tanks on it? Never saw one with them fitted. Last F111 I ever saw was in June 94 when 2 Aussie F111s dip a flypast at Cranwell. They were in UK for the 50th anniversary of D-DAY.

Seen at Alconbury in the early 90's. Probably 1992

The original USAF designation for the F-4 Phantom II was to have been the F-110 Spectre.
F-4 was an adaption of the original US Navy designation F4H (Fighter, by McDonnell, 4th Design from manufacturer) which was used following the September 1962 decision by the US Department of Defense to standardise designations for all branches.
