In RAF service the Heron was called Heron, so why was the Dove called Devon???????????
I read somewhere that Dove was considered an inappropriate name for a military aircraft
It war RAF naming policy that light transports were named for shires. Dove became Devon; a Percival Prince development became Pembroke; Airspeed Ambassador nearly became Ayrshire.
