Radar heads at Manby was created by Bloodhound1949
I passed Manby last week and saw several Radar heads on the verge either side of an old entrance ,on the main road.
I did not have time to stop but the main heads were circular with height finding aerials to the left of these.
Does anyone know the story of these items and what type of Radar system they originate from?

Thanks Bill,
I managed to call in today and take some pictures.I have had a quick look and think that they are Type 911 fire control Radars by Marconi,Chelmsford.The Sea Wolf used this system in the later Type 22 Frigates...The Navy is so short of equipment that they will shortly be scanning the Country for this type of gear....During the Falklands war they were so desperate to get back some AEW capabability that scrap yards were searched for Fairey Gannets and Double-Mamba engines!

As I was scrolling down I thought Seawolf.
The same type is still fitted to the Type 23's I think.
I wonder how it got where it did?

SeaWolf is being replaced by CAMM(M) on Type 23 Frigates

CAMM(M), the maritime variant known as Sea Ceptor, will be the first variant in service, replacing the Sea Wolf missile system on the Type 23 frigates from 2016. Sea Ceptor can be packed much more tightly, with up to four missiles fitting into the space occupied by one Seawolf. It will also equip the Global Combat Ships expected to enter service around 2021, and be an available option on any export versions of the Global Combat Ship. MBDA is working with the MoD, BAE Systems and Qinetiq to integrate Sea Ceptor with the Type 23 combat system. This work is centred at the Type 23 shore integration facility at Portsdown, near Portsmouth.
In September 2013 the MOD agreed a £250 million contract with MBDA for Sea Ceptor.

Same here, but from Grafton when she visited Ipswich and I know somewhere that I have some shots from when I found myself on board Chatham alongside at Devonport when I was there one day,
Chances are then that it has come off of a Type 22 as they have all gone, except from those hulls that were sold to foreign navies.
But how did it get where it is !!!

With 90 being the year this would put it within the timescale of Argyle being bulit.
Not sure about CYA.
The navy had some kit with the designation Type CJK,CJA, CJC etc years ago, but these were, in the main, radio systems and I don't think they also had a type number.
I was not aware of Winchester Marine but it seems they may be prime suspect!
